Meda’in Saleh (City of Saleh) was built by the Nabataeans between 100 BC and 100 CE, which was substantially destroyed by a flood so massive that it was mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. It has 131 magnificent tombs spread out over 13.4 km which are carved out of the surrounding sandstone mountains. The name Meda’in Saleh was given to this site by an Andalusian traveler in the year 1336 AD. The A Ula Arac Hotel is the closest accommodation to Meda’in Saleh.
